Top Picks for Boutique Shops in Los Angeles

Whenever I am traveling I find myself either on one of two spectrums:

  1. Needing to shop because I didn’t pack well, or
  2. Wanting to shop simply because I am traveling.

Either of the two is a great excuse to head out and snag the local styles!

Boutique Shopping in Los Angeles

It is natural for visitors new to LA to first think of Rodeo Drive, but you don’t have to be a Pretty Woman these days to rock the block to look like a star. With so many amazing boutiques popping up around town, and so many great designers curated for your picking pleasure, I have chosen to highlight a few of my current favorite boutiques perfect for a range of budgets and occasions during your stay.

Milk

Sometimes confused with the nearby ice cream sanctuary, Milk on Third is truly the cherry on top of any great shopping trip! This boutique is not only stacked with handpicked designers like ALC, IRO and Mason by Michelle Mason, but the staff is more than eager to help you select the perfect look. I like to think of Milk as my very own ‘Cheers’ of the shopping world; everyone knows my name and is happy that I came (but something tells me they treat everyone like family). You really can never go wrong with good styles, killer sales (keep an eye on that back rack!) and a smiling staff; plus they carry their own line, Alexx Jae & Milk, which is chock full of amazing and affordable basics. Head here for your everyday chic; find rompers, sweaters, lacy things, chic denim and so much more including a small selection of menswear. Plus there is a great couch for your entourage to chill while you try everything on!

Satine

Satine is literally across the street from Milk so you can shop hop right along 3rd street! This bright boutique is luxuriously upscale with a downtown sensibility. Featuring high fashion heads like Chanel, Jason Wu and Preen to more indie style darlings like Toga Pulla, Jonathon Simkhai and Drifter you can find everything here from an evening dress to a pair of studded Cuban boots. While you can easily spend big bucks here, there is a great range of prices and designs from everyone’s fave Hudson Jeans to killer Kenzo bags. The airy environment and stunning selections will simply make you feel like a style star even if you are just browsing.

Mohawk General Store

With a men and women’s store sitting side by side, Mohawk General Store is a Silverlake style trip suited for the whole family! This hip haven draws style cred around the world and features everything from home goods and apothecary to books and clothing. The men’s side is one of the few boutiques to carry Dries Van Noten clothing and is the perfect spot to peruse the latest issue of Monocle or stock up on some Baxter bath products and Acne T-shirts. Over in women’s you will find the most covetable Isabel Marant kicks, Dream Collective jewels and lacey underthings from Lonely. Mohawk General is the perfect place from which to draw inspiration in all areas of style.

Reformation

“You are what you wear” is Reformation’s motto and when you are wearing eco-friendly styles you will feel great inside and out! This bi-coastal boutique is grounded in social consciousness; the brand makes you feel good about what you wear on your back and proud that the boho-esque styles are entirely produced here in DTLA. The boutique however is right in the heart of West Hollywood and features reasonably priced designs best described as retro-inspired, sexy, feminine and a touch minimalist. This is the perfect place to go for that summer sun day-dress or a flowy maxi for a rooftop soirée. With a NY edge and that LA laissez-faire attitude, all babes are #Refbabes after a shopping trip here!
