Kick off the New Year with 3 Fun Events in Los Angeles in January

Plan your month in LA with the London West Hollywood recommended events, including free things to do and family-friendly activities. Start the year off right with the city’s best activities and things to do in our January events calendar.

Museum Free-For-All Day

January 28th

Bust out that list of museums you’ve always wanted to explore, because January 28th will be the day to visit it! Special exhibitions aren’t free, but catch just about everything else at more than 30 arts institutions across Southern California. Make a day of it and hit as many as you can, from north (Kidspace, Pasadena Museum of California Art) to south (Orange County Museum of Art, Laguna Art Museum) and tons of places in between (LACMA, the Broad, the Hammer).

Dine LA

January 12th – January 26th

It’s baaaack! DineLA returns for its annual winter edition, this time extending the event for a full 15 days and featuring hundreds of L.A. restaurants offering discounted lunch and dinner meals. With prix-fixe menus that range from $15-$49 (plus an Exclusive Series featuring menus starting at $95), Angelenos can indulge in some of the best restaurants in the city without dipping into their rent money. Along with the usual suspects, there are a few newcomers on this year’s ballot, like HiHo Cheeseburger, Uovo, The Mighty, Lunetta Dining Room and Bar and more.

Night on Broadway

Jan 27th

Need any more convincing that Broadway is back? How about a cultural festival spanning six of Downtown’s historic theaters and movie palaces. All of the venues will open their doors for free during Night on Broadway to host performances and installations. Outside the theaters, there’s a street festival between 3rd and Olympic with shopping pop-ups, a family-friendly kids area and a music main stage. The event celebrates the 10th anniversary of Councilmember José Huizar’s Bringing Back Broadway initiative, which, judging by the recent road diet and influx of new businesses, we’d say is going pretty well.
